I'm varying between spitting nails every time I discover a new fail and gritting my teeth and pushing on regardless, because after 34 pages I'm becoming inured to this textbook's inherent craposity. The real trouble is that every time I find a fail this big, I stop editing for about forty-five minutes while I rant silently at my screen and process back from 'blind rage' to 'move on, fact-checking isn't your job'.
(The Histories is much better as a social/anthropological source than an historical one, and even then you have to be aware of his Graecocentricism etc). I know why she's using him - she's writing about Sparta and there's not much else to go on - but he's just. Not. Accurate.)
