Title: Hivetwist
Rating: PG
Genre: Drabble, albeit a longish one.
Spoilers: S04E06. If you know the title, you know the spoiler.
Characters/Pairings: Ten, Jenny
Wordcount: 203
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who; I'm just playing in the BBC's sandbox for fun and practice.
Summary: Jenny's untrained telepathy is giving the Doctor problems.
He can't explain it to Donna, because she just won't understand. Humans never do, even ones who've felt a hive mind and seen its power. But this woman, this Jenny, is wrong, fundamentally wrong, completely absolutely entirely wrong...
She fills the holes, creates a hive mind again, two of them screaming into the blackness, and for that he's glad. But in that hive, so small, so clear, he can see her mind the way he should never be able to, and it scares him.
The Master knew how to close his mind, keep the worst of it out of the hive... he didn't always, relishing the effect it had, but he knew how, knew that there were some things that should be private. But Jenny doesn't know, and worse, she doesn't care. Everything that she is is in that hive, and everything she is is not Time Lord, but guns and tactics and killing and not seeing the problem with it. She is a Time Lord gone wrong, and he is feeling every second of it, cold and sharp against his mind.
It's awful, and it's terrifying, and no matter how much he relishes having that hole filled, having any collective mind back, she is not his daughter.
