First Reactions: End of Time Part 1

I've already said that I don't want to do a full review until the series is over. Reaction posts, though...

• Why would the Master, speaking to the Doctor, bother to use the adjective 'red' when talking about grass? You don't hear humans saying, "Hmm, the green grass in my garden needs mowing," do you? Because it's redundant. Of course the grass was red, what else would it be?


• I've speculated before that Gallifrey was basically hiding from its two most destructive renegades. I think I like the idea that it's been hidden inside the Master's mind even more.


• Thank GOD, this episode wasn't stick-up-arse serious. And the next one will be even less so.


• How long until Mr. Fixed Point reverts back from Masterdom to Jackdom? I'm guessing not long.


• Is it just me, or does the White Guardian look better now she's no longer an old fart with a dead bird on his head?
  
  • At least, I'm assuming it's the White Guardian. Either that or we're having a crossover with Randall and Hopkirk (deceased), and Four Wyvern is about to show up in a seven-foot white scarf, spouting bad poetry.
  
  
  • If it is the Guardian, where's the Black one? And has he likewise removed his dead bird?


• John Simm in a dress = comedy gold.


• Ahh, the Master's skeletal and dying again. Good, he makes the best stories this way.
  
  • Especially when he's being played by John Simm. Let's hear it for talented actors!


• And of course Donna's going to save the world again.


• But will she survive? Not past the beginning of next episode, of course she'll be fine for that, but into the new series. Weren't the DoctorDonna both included in the Ood's 'your song must end soon' prophecy?


• I can see several ways out of this, which is good, because it means we're less likely to be subjected to a deus ex machina.


• Please, RTD, don't fuck it up now, I loved this episode so much.
