charameiI'm stealing a meme from purpleparadox, because (a) I'm terrible at talking about myself in a way that other people can understand, and (b) this needs to change.
My name is Catherine; I go by Charamei almost exclusively online. I'm 23 and currently working as a web developer, a job which was the obvious choice after doing an MA in Classics.
My MA dissertation was effectively 'Why all ancient literature is fanfiction' and is online here, if anyone's interested. As a result of too many essays, I tend to automatically switch to the Greek alphabet when using classical Greek in context.
I'm asexual and largely aromantic.
I don't pick up new fandoms easily, especially not to the level where I want to write fic about them. This is probably a good thing, since I never finish long fic and I'm trying to get into the habit of writing original stuff instead. I've been stuck writing the same (short!) Doctor Who fic for nearly two years, and hate its guts by now: unfortunately I love the concept too much to let it go. Also, I'm stubborn.
I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year. I won in 2008, but with a pile of unsalvageable rubbish. This year, I might even have a plot by November. I also sew: I made a Time Lord costume last year, along with several other, less interesting things like pyjamas. My ultimate aim is to be able to make all my own clothes, since I have one of those ridiculous metabolisms that means I never get above seven stone in weight and can therefore never find shop clothes to fit me. I'd also like to learn to do halfway-decent cake decoration, though so far every attempt has resulted in a yummy disaster.
What else... umm. Probably plenty, but nothing that immediately springs to mind: most of the things that are springing to mind are things that I'd rather not put online, things that involve family or freinds or are just a bit personal. So I guess I'll stop.
